Course Overview

The Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires that a competent person oversee these job sites.

The course will give participants an understanding of: 

  • site set up procedures;
  • trenching;
  • shoring methods;
  • trench condition safety awareness (weather, soil changes, vibration, spoil bank location, etc.);
  • entry/exit procedures; 
  • excess soil regulations
  • managing and removing excavated site soil
  • traffic control;
  • site access control; and
  • communications.
