Course Overview

Topics covered include:

  • hazardous materials management;
  • health and safety;
  • WHMIS 2015 (including GHS inclusion and new symbols, Dec 2018);
  • new classification standards and supplier labels; and
  • appropriate first response and first aid procedures.


The course will give participants an understanding of:

  • hazards associated with chemicals used in the water and wastewater fields;
  • safe handling of those chemicals and the use of personal protective equipment; and
  • the requirements of provincial and federal legislation regarding the use of chemicals in the workplace.
